Participant Information and Consent Form

Name of Project: Assessing the Quality of Cancer Council Online Community 

You are invited to participate in a study relating to how you perceive the quality of the online resources you use to obtain information and support for cancer. The purpose of the study is to understand how the quality of Cancer Council Online Community affects psychosocial outcomes and intentions to continue to use the forum. That is, we want to explore the impact of the perceived quality of Cancer Council Online Community on continuance usage intentions, health- information competence, coping, and self-care behaviour.

This study is being conducted by Basma Badreddine, +61 403 499 425, basma.badreddine@hdr.mq.edu.au to meet the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) under the supervision of Dr. Ali Amrollahi, +61 (2) 9850 9269, ali.amrollahi@mq.edu.au of the Department of Actuarial Studies and Business Analytics, Macquarie Business School and Associate Professor Yvette Blount, +61 412 146 102, y.blount@deakin.edu.au of the Department of Management, Deakin Business School. 

This questionnaire will take about 15-20 minutes of your time. If you decide to participate, you will be asked to answer questions about how you perceive the quality of Cancer Council Online Community and the impact on psychosocial outcomes.

Your participation in this survey is entirely voluntary and anonymous. Participants can enter their email address at the end of the survey if they wish to receive an incentive of 10 AUD in the form of an e-voucher
Participants cannot be identified. All information collected will remain strictly confidential and will only be used for the purpose of advancing knowledge. At any time, during or after filling out the survey, if you feel distressed you can refer to the Support Services staff for support. Support services details are provided below.

Your participation in this research will be to complete this questionnaire. Although the answers to each question are important for research, you remain free to choose not to answer any of them or to terminate your participation at any time, without having to justify yourself. The collected data will be stored in encrypted files that will be protected by a password that only researchers will have access to. Personal data will be destroyed five (5) years after the end of the project.
