Archaeology Community PID Survey

This survey is primarily aimed at all people who work in any field of the Archaeological Sciences.

The survey is being conducted by the IGSN–DataCite Archaeology Community of Practice (CoP) to ascertain what level of knowledge Archaeologists have about Persistent Identifiers (PIDs), how you use them in your research activities, and what your experiences have been in doing this. The CoP is especially keen to learn about your experiences around assigning PIDs to archaeological samples, any interesting sample use cases you may have, and your interest in both exploring more about assigning PIDs to your samples and in helping the CoP with its goals.

From the above, the exact structure of the survey is as follows:

  1. Basic Information

  2. Knowledge of PIDs and General Experiences

  3. PID Experiences in Archaeological Research and PIDs for Samples

  4. The IGSN–DataCite Archaeology CoP

Depending on the depth of your knowledge and experiences, it may take less than 5 minutes or up to 20 minutes to respond to all of the questions, noting that you may miss questions according to your responses. You have the option to pause the survey and continue it later. Unless you choose to add your contact information, all data is collected anonymously.

The survey will be open until Wednesday 31 January 2024. For further information, contact Rorie Edmunds (DataCite Samples Community Manager) at rorie.edmunds@datacite.org.
